Phoenix Bat Shlomo: Healing Through Land and Poetry

Israel faces an immense national challenge: supporting the soldiers, reservists and families who continue to live with the physical and emotional consequences of prolonged war.

Phoenix Communities was created to help develop supportive community environments where veterans can rebuild a sense of belonging, resilience and purpose.

Today, we introduce one of its newest initiatives: Phoenix Bat Shlomo.

Located in northern Israel, the planned 16-dunam agricultural healing farm is expected to begin activities in January 2027, welcoming combat veterans, including those not formally recognized by the rehabilitation system, and their families.

Chanan Vinograd: A Life Between the Land and the Written Word

At the heart of the project is Chanan Vinograd — the farm's manager, a gardener and an author.

Phoenix Bat Shlomo: Healing Through Land and Poetry

Vinograd brings a philosophy connecting agricultural work, human responsibility and the creative power of language.

Working with the soil can provide routine, purpose and a tangible sense of achievement. Poetry and creative writing offer another form of expression, allowing participants to explore emotions, memories and experiences through words.

The farm's philosophy rests on three pillars:

Resilience. Agriculture. Poetry.

Planned activities include agricultural work, community gatherings and creative writing workshops, alongside a supportive environment designed to encourage personal growth.

Farming and poetry are not intended to replace professional mental health care. They are complementary experiences that can support connection, personal expression and recovery.

An Invitation to Become Part of the Story

Phoenix Bat Shlomo is more than a farm. It is an invitation to help build a compassionate community around those who have served.

We invite our readers and friends around the world to discover the project, share its story and connect with the people developing it.

Share this story with someone who cares about Israel's veterans and their families. Help us introduce Phoenix Communities to new friends and potential partners around the world.

In the coming weeks, we will introduce further opportunities to participate in the development of the farm.

Sometimes healing begins with a seed planted in the soil, a poem written on paper and a community willing to walk beside you.
